Schoolhouse Grows

Electric Lighting manufacturer and retailer Schoolhouse Electric Company has expanded into home furnishings.  Working with designers in its hometown of Portland Oregon, Schoolhouse's new offerings are diverse, ranging from camp blankets to tufted sofas, all in a style vibe that should suit 20th century homes, from Arts & Crafts to mid-century modern.

The Company has moved into a new, 6,000 square foot showroom in a 1910 brick factory, originally the home of the Pacific Hardware & Steel Company.  Schoolhouse also has a showroom in New York City.

Schoolhouse Electric Co was founded by Brian Faherty in 2033, not long after he discovered a collection of cast-iron glass shade molds in an upstate New York warehouse.  The shade molds were the inspiration for lighting with hand-blown shades in styles reminiscent of designs from about 1900 to 1950.
