The Accuardi-Romero family leads a busy life. Martie Accuardi owns her own design business, Space Design, runs an Orchid Exchange program, and holds occasional design and orchid classes in her showroom. Steven Romero runs a software company. And the couple’s blended group of five kids, ranging in age from 7 to 16, keep busy with a steady stream of homework and the dozen or so friends that they parade through the family home on any given weekend. So, even though the family put down roots in a sprawling, three-story 1904 Victorian home, what they really needed was a “hub,” a place to work on projects, plug into a computer or grab a quick snack.
