Schoolhouse Electric Joins the BTA

Bicycling in Portland has quite the reputation. Not only are we considered one of the most bike-friendly cities in the nation (currently ranked #4 - down from #1 in 2012... but who's counting), we've also played host to the highly-acclaimed World Naked Bike Ride since 2005. But we digress, as this is not that kind of blog post. Today we are here to happily announce our support and membership with the BTA, Portland's Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

Since 1990, the BTA has worked in partnership with citizens, businesses, community groups, government agencies, and elected officials to create communities where people can meet their daily transportation needs on a bike. At Schoolhouse HQ, we have a great number of bike commuters, many of us riding in to work every day. Often times you'll see our Vice President, Sara Fritsch (in the top pic) taking a spin around the neighborhood. Inside our factory, we have a designated bike parking lot as a safe space to store our beloved rides, along with posted bike route maps and other safety resources readily available thanks to the BTA.

We believe in biking for so many reasons and are proud and excited to align with the BTA. The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon. Their mission is to create healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, convenient and accessible for everyone, regardless of race, income or socio-economic status. By offering solutions for the universal challenges facing health, livability and the environment, the BTA hopes to transform communities by reinventing transportation.
